SYSTEM OVERVIEW

Welcome to OVERDRIVE // System Meltdown, an intense, neon-drenched cybernetic arcade shooter engineered for high-performance mobile and desktop browsers. Your core is plugged directly into an evolving simulation mind that monitors your mechanical tactics and mutates in real-time to destroy you.

Your objective is simple: Push your Core Potential to maximum capacity without letting your Integrity collapse.

CORE MECHANICS

The Thermal Equilibrium

Your weapons run on a highly volatile thermal reactor. Every move must be calculated against heat thresholds:

  • Overload: Firing your weapon builds up reactor heat.
  • Cooling: Ceasing fire automatically vents heat, keeping your reactor stable.
  • Overdrive State: At high heat levels, your weapons split into dual chromatic channels, granting immense speed at the cost of exponential heat generation.
  • System Meltdown: Crossing critical heat thresholds triggers red emergency protocols. This accelerates the procedural synth soundtrack, changes your hull color to hot red, and massively multiplies enemy spawn rates. Survive the heat or vent in time!

THE PROTOCOL MATRIX (PLAYER POWERS)

Defeated units drop glowing data shards. Collecting them loads active programs into your Protocol Matrix inventory (holds up to 3 chips). Press E, Left/Right Shift, or tap the dedicated on-screen button to deploy:

  • 💥 EMP Charge: Fires an expanding electromagnetic wave that instantly vaporizes all enemy projectiles in range and leaves nearby enemy constructs completely stunned.
  • 🛡️ Aegis Shield: Spawns a rotating magenta deflector barrier. It blocks incoming physical collision damage, repels close-quarters threats, and reflects enemy bullets back at them as player-aligned homing shots.
  • Chrono Warp: Warps local spacetime, slowing down all enemies and their projectiles to a crawl while you navigate at standard operational velocity.
  • Mega-Lazer: Discharges a continuous, screen-shattering plasma beam in your aiming direction, piercing through heavy armor armor, disintegrating enemy energy vectors, and dealing devastating ticks of damage.

EVOLVING SIMULATION MIND (ADAPTIVE AI)

The system is watching you. As your score, tracking precision, and power activations scale, the Simulation Mind's Adaptation Level increases, triggering active real-time mutations:

  • Reactive Plating (Low Adaptation): When struck, enemies gain a red nano-shield that absorbs a portion of incoming damage.
  • Predictive Intercept (Mid Adaptation): Advanced entities calculate your current velocity vectors and aim ahead of your movement path, hunting you down with lethal accuracy.
  • Power Jammer Field (High Adaptation): Elite heavy units generate a massive pulsing suppression circle that freezes your active protocol cooldown recovery and drains active shields if you breach their perimeter.

3D ENEMY CONSTRUCTS & LOGIC ABILITIES

Enemies are rendered using a custom-engineered 3D Isometric Wireframe Projection Engine, tumbling and rotating along realistic axis lines:

  • 🔺 Chaser (Red Tetrahedron): Rapid, aggressive target-seekers. Every few seconds, they trigger a high-speed rage charge straight toward your coordinate location.
  • 📦 Heavy (Opposing Double 3D Cubes): Armored juggernauts that shoot heavy vector spreads. They generate a front-facing kinetic deflector arc to absorb direct ammunition lines.
  • 💠 Dasher (3D Cyan Octahedron): Highly agile skirmishers that execute short-range quantum blinks directly forward to ambush your flanks.
  • Medic (3D Green Cross): High-priority support units that hold defensive positioning while channeling a structural healing stream to damaged allies.
  • Bomber (Hexagonal Prism): Volatile ordinance shells. Upon structural failure, they fracture and split into two separate, high-velocity Chaser constructs.

TACTICAL LOOT DROPS

Aggression is heavily rewarded. Eliminating hostiles drops localized upgrade points and hardware items:

  • Heal Core (Green Cube): Instantly restores core Integrity and vents substantial units of built-up thermal reactor heat. (Heavily weighted to drop frequently to keep you in the action!)
  • Aegis Battery (Magenta): Automatically patches an Aegis Shield module into your inventory matrix.
  • Overclock Chip (Cyan): Loads a Chrono Warp slow-mo chip into an open slot.
  • Nova Capacitor (Yellow): Preps an EMP shockwave matrix card.
  • Lazer Grid (Red/Orange): Arms your ship with the destructive tactical Mega-Lazer.

USER INTERFACE & CONTROL SCHEMATIC

  • Movement: Ship trajectory continuously pursues your mouse cursor or touch point.
  • Primary Firing: Hold Left Mouse Button or press anywhere on the right half of a touchscreen.
  • Protocol Matrix Deployment: Press E or Shift.
  • Pause / Disconnect Link: Press Escape, P, or click directly on the upper-left Neural Link diagnostics HUD card.
